Good morning friends! It is a beautiful day at Rising Eden and we are gearing up for a busy day! But first, our weekly recap. We have been working a few projects this week that are wrapping up nicely. I finally got through swapping out the seasonal clothes. It is now officially spring and it better stay that way since my kiddos now have shorts and tee shirts! I (mostly) finished putting the winter clothes away yesterday and I can not believe how many clothes we have! I think I’m going to have to go through it all again and pare down what we have but right now I’m reveling in the blessing of all the clothes that we have been given, and that we have been passing down through all of our children.
I have also made a serious dent in my mending basket that both gives new life to some damaged clothes and also makes my children happy by having all their scout badges sewn on. Yes, I know that I could use a variety of adhesive products, but I find that sewing them is the best method and I really don’t mind doing it. Besides, it is a very tangible way of showing my children how much I love them and how proud I am of their accomplishments. 🙂
On to my frugal update for the week: I have calculated the total average grocery bill that we have had for the first 3 months of the year (yikes!) and for last month we have saved $250-300! Yay! Now, hopefully we will be as successful this month as least. It did take a bit of effort, and thinking, and planning. But I think that is a nice “earning” for the work involved. I also saved a bit this week by eating leftovers before they went bad and by organizing my errands to be run together so I could save a bit on gas. I also picked up some items to make a few mother’s day gifts with my crafty kids which will hopefully make my mom and sisters smile without breaking the budget. (Shhh…they are secrets until Sunday!) Anyone else have some frugal moments this week? Share your ideas with us!
Lastly, we are going to have some sporty fun this week. Lacrosse games for the little Miss and a trip to Oriole Park to cheer on our favorite baseball team! Let’s go O’s!!
What are you up to this week?
peace and health,
