Well I know I have been missing a bit this past week but I have been hard at work with Miss S in completing our special project. As some of you may know, our gift to our little girl this past Christmas was some lumber and some wood working plans. We have spent the last couple of months (off and on) working on the lovely doll bed sized for her American Girl dolls. She has learned all kinds of great skills like measuring, cutting, using a drill, and countersinking. It has been tons of fun and wonderful learning and bonding time. But finally we are done, and thanks to her cool mama with lots of scrap fabric (wink!) she has a mattress, pillows, and bedding to go with it!
Check out our fun results:
Here is the bed itself with the gorgeous color that my smart daughter picked out. It is called “Posh Red”. Doesn’t that sound luxurious?
Of course one must have sheets for the mattress and pillows. A little rick rack and embroidery make it special. 😉
It makes you want to dive right in and snuggle up, don’t you think?
Here we are all finished and beautiful! I love how the red frame draws out the color of the flowers in the coverlet and throw pillows!
And just in case you are wondering, we got the plans from the fabulous website ana-white.com. I highly recommend it! She has all kinds of awesome plans for everything you can think of. We even used some of her plans for our boy’s loft beds.
I hope you have fun seeing our projects and please share something of yours if you can!
